RentQue
A modern waitlist management platform designed for housing providers to streamline applicant management, automate communications, and support everything from traditional waiting lists to affordable housing lotteries.
RentQue began as a response to a real-world challenge: helping organizations move away from spreadsheet-based waitlist management toward a purpose-built platform designed specifically for housing operations.
Rather than simply recreating an existing process, I approached the project from the ground up—identifying opportunities to simplify applicant management, improve transparency, automate repetitive tasks, and introduce capabilities that would be difficult or impossible with traditional spreadsheet workflows.
As the project evolved, the vision expanded beyond standard waitlists to support a wider range of housing programs, including affordable housing lotteries, configurable application workflows, applicant communication tools, document management, reporting, and flexible prioritization rules. The goal is to provide housing providers with a modern platform that adapts to their unique policies while significantly reducing administrative overhead.
To accommodate organizations of different sizes and IT requirements, RentQue was designed to support both self-hosted deployments, giving organizations complete control over their infrastructure and data, and fully managed cloud hosting for customers seeking a turnkey solution.
As development progressed, many of the workflows, automation capabilities, and housing management features originally created for RentQue became foundational components of PilotBPM. Rather than continuing as a completely separate platform, RentQue evolved into a specialized module within the broader PilotBPM ecosystem, allowing housing-specific functionality to benefit from PilotBPM's AI-powered workflow engine, document management, automation, and business process capabilities.
